We’ve been getting a lot of questions about this from potential clients, and though it can be a sensitive topic, we wanted to start a convo about it. Things are changing a lot, and we’re seeing it affect our industry more and more each day. Wherever you are in the US, if you have the ability to seriously think about reno projects that you’d like to do, we really think the time is now to jump in on them - big and small and in between - so they don’t become out of reach. Even just doing a few small updates here and there now to go toward a full reno in the future will likely lower costs in the long run. #hausstudio #renovation #remodel

And finally, here’s Tyler’s favorite renovation since Haus first opened its doors 7 years ago! Not only did poor lighting and shuttered windows render this over-tiled kitchen dark in a way that even light finishes couldn’t solve, but once we began demo to open the space up, we found a laundry list of obstacles and oddities. Slab stacked under tile floors, hidden wiring, gas lines and HVAC that all had to be relocated safely…what we thought would be a standard kitchen remodel turned out to be anything but. The result of pushing through to exceed our client’s expectations, though, was too worth it. (swipe for a crazy before and after) Super fitting for our 2 year anniversary throwback yesterday, in just Haus’ second year of business, our designs and unconventional business model beat out some major players to win the renovation of this German Village stunner! The outdated and cramped kitchen was begging for natural light and room enough to support a growing family. We found exactly that just beyond the far kitchen wall in a redundant hallway. We removed that barrier and extended the new kitchen into the space to create something truly open and livable. Cabinets and fixtures got a necessarily gorgeous upgrade, while striking matte white appliances and a contrasting expansive island were the cherries on top of the whole reno. Haus Studio is 7 (SEVEN!!!) years old this week. In honor of this major Hausaversary, we’re counting down @tswartzmiller89’s top 3 favorite renovations so far. #3 is a massive remodel. This gorgeous house has an incredible history as an old 19th century schoolhouse. The family that calls it home adored the heritage of the space, but not so much the awkward layout and outdated design that decades of small additions and renovations had given it. We knew we had to reimagine this home to be a space that both honored deep history and created a contemporary-yet-timeless visual language. In order to do it, we practically turned the place upside down. We knocked down walls to create a gorgeous airy kitchen and dining area that became the heart of the home, turned a cramped dining room into an eclectic cozy record nook, added a moody walk-in bar…the list truly goes on! The result of all that reimagining and recreating is something undeniably inviting and still rich with moments of character. Since Heather is basically Glinda incarnate, she was totally up for the task of creating something exceedingly beautiful and altogether quite impossible to describe. She put together the softest, classiest kitchen palette we’ve ever seen…and with a hint of sparkle and depth. So, so gorgeous! #hausstudio #paletted #wicked

Not only did the Haus team gain a wealth of insight, but @tswartzmiller89 laid down some invaluable design knowledge and entrepreneurial advice of his own on an amazing industry panel. Our @curatedcolumbusdesign booth closed out the night by doing what it does best: fostering new connections, conversations, and a healthy dose of laughter. We’re already dreaming of the next one!

The home that this space belongs to is straight out of the 1920s, and it’s owner wanted to make sure that a major kitchen reno didn’t rid the place of its original essence. This sink base was just one of the ways we ensured that the kitchen didn’t lose its charm. #hausstudios #kitchenreno #cabinetdesign

It’s such a warm, rich, grounded color with these distinct purple undertones that immediately struck me as something that could make a huge impact right now. Bathroom remodel with a shower bench that extends beyond the glass? Absolutely.⁠ ⁠ A couple who had given their lives to caring for others was finally ready to gift themselves a primary bath tailored for relaxation and rejuvination. We took on the task of renovating the (very) quirky existing room by re-envisioning both the layout and functionality of the space.

Hot take: carpet is a major kitchen (and bathroom!!) no-no. True catharsis was ripping up that kitchen carpet and replacing it with the perfect hardwood to match the Vaughan’s cozy-industrial vibe.

You've seen us post about it before, but here's the full story on this gorgeous transformation. ⁠ ⁠ This family could see the potential in the builder-grade kitchen that came along with their new home. They reached out to us with a desire to open up the space, elevate it with functional craftsmanship and bold color, and establish it as a place for gathering.⁠ ⁠ We knew immediately that we'd bring in a gorgeous new (and much larger) island, cover up that window facing a brick wall to make way for a beautiful oak hood overlooking a gas range, and turn an existing kitchen desk space into a new cozy bar and dining area. Wallpaper is so back, and we went all out with it in this reno.⁠ ⁠ One of our favorite long-time Haus Studio families was going big with the changes to their new home. They gave our team creative freedom to think up designs for a sitting room, kitchen and bath that felt fresh and unique. Having gotten to know these clients so well, we opted to use the timeless, quirky modernism of wallpaper to express the family's collective character throughout the home.⁠ ⁠ Wallpapered ceilings adorn the sitting room and bar as a gorgeous softening and elevating element in the otherwise moody, traditional space. A mural adds to the breezy kitchen while botanicals make a bold statement in the minimalist bath. Our installers did an amazing job making these patterns look seamless.⁠ ⁠ We adore this home and its people.
